ASK/UASK Internship

Men Can Stop Rape, is seeking an enthusiastic, thoughtful, responsible, and committed individual for an Internship to help with the promotion and advocacy of the ASK and UASK Platform. The ASK/UASK intern will assist the National Programs Manager with management of ASK/UASK projects, organizing and coordinating mailings, updating the online platform, and attending events in Washington, DC that contribute to the marketing and development of ASK/UASK.

Established in 2012, ASK DC and UASK DC are projects of Men Can Stop Rape, made possible through funding and support by the DC Mayor’s Office of Victims Services and Justice Grants (OVSJG). ASK DC (Assault. Services. Knowledge.), is a website and downloadable app for iPhone and Android smartphones that provides users with community-specific sexual assault, domestic violence, and intimate partner violence resources. ASK is a comprehensive platform that brings together victim service providers, public officials, the medical community, law enforcement, violence prevention experts, universities, and advocates within DC to offer response resources for victims of violence. ASK DC can be used by anyone to direct a friend, family member, or colleague who may have experienced violence to the help they need. UASK DC (University Assault. Services. Knowledge.), is a website and app for the 8 universities in Washington, DC and provides campus-specific resources for intimate partner violence and sexual violence. This first-of-its-kind website and mobile application offers before, during, and after resources and is confidential, safe, and for everyone.

Specific responsibilities include:

-        Communication with ASK/UASK partners

-        Planning and attending awareness events in Washington, DC

-        Website entry and management

-        Coordinate and organize mailings to community and campus partners

-        Support planning and implementation of UASK for HHS-OWH Grant

-        Assist with Analytics for website and app

-        Assist in social media and marketing messaging

-        Research as needed

-        Support ongoing projects, attend meetings, and provide administrative support, as needed

-        Other duties as assigned


-         Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

-         Proficiency in Excel, Word, Google Docs, and data entry

-         Comfortable working on time sensitive projects

-         Self-motivation and ability to work effectively without close supervision

-         Strong verbal and written communication skills

-         An interest in violence prevention, gender studies, public health, and/or social justice issues

-         Work well in a collaborative environment

Preferred Qualifications:

-        Skilled in Prezi

-        Experience with CMS and HTML

-        Experience with event planning and coordination

Details of the Internship:

-          3-4 month internship

-          10 hours per week

-          Stipend of $10/hour
