Upcoming Webinar - Cultural Competency in Practice: Lessons Learned from Boy to Mentsch

webinar

FREE WEBINAR

Cultural Competency in Practice: Lessons Learned from Boy to Mentsch

DAY AND TIME:

May 11, 2 – 3:30 pm EST

DESCRIPTION:

Many organizations recognize that cultural competency is an essential skill for effective program development and implementation. While the value of it is widely recognized, the process for practicing cultural competence is still not widely understood. This webinar will be conducted by Jewish Women International and its partners for the Boy to Mentsch project, a healthy masculinity public awareness campaign and programmatic initiative funded by an Office on Violence Against Women Consolidated Youth Engaging Men and Boys grant. Boys to Mentsch, launched in a conservative and insular Orthodox Jewish community in Baltimore, will serve as a case study to examine cultural competency strategies: gaining access to the community, building credibility, and implementing effective programs in culturally specific communities. Lessons learned, applicable to many different cultural competence projects, will be shared.

REGISTRATION:

FACILITATORS:

Deborah Rosenbloom, Vice President of Programs and New Initiatives, Jewish Women International

Dana Fleitman, Senior Manager of Prevention and Training Programs, Jewish Women International

Nancy Aiken, Executive Director, Counseling Helpline and Aid Network (CHANA), Baltimore, MD

Rabbi Shmuel Fischler, Director of Advocacy and Outreach, Counseling Helpline and Aid Network, (CHANA), Baltimore, MD
