Domestic Violence Pledge

Join the Men of Strength (MOST) and Women Inspiring Strength and Empowerment (WISE) Clubs in an effort to prevent and raise awareness of Domestic Violence by signing our pledge. We will be posting photos of those who have signed the pledge!

Educate your peers, family and community. Unhealthy relationships can start early and last a lifetime. Teens often think behaviors like teasing and name calling are a "normal" part of a relationship. However, these behaviors can become abusive and develop into more serious forms of violence. A CDC nationwide survey found that 23% of females and 14% of males who have experienced rape, physical violence or stalking by an intimate partner, first experienced some form of partner violence between 11 and 17 years of age. Teen dating violence is defined as the physical, sexual, psychological or emotional violence within a dating relationship. Dating violence can take place in person or via technology and might occur between a current or former dating patrtner.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Domestic violence impacts women, men, and children of every age, background, and belief. Nearly 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men in the United States have suffered severe physical violence by an intimate partner. Victims are deprived of their autonomy, liberty, and security, and face tremendous threats to their health and safety. During National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we commit to upholding the basic human right to be free from violence and abuse. Join us in October as we learn more about the many faces of domestic violence, the ways DV impacts individuals, families, and communities, how to support friends or loved ones who are being abused, and how to get help for yourself.

We are proud to work with DC Coalition Against Domestic Violence to encourage everyone to proactively engage in dialogue that promotes safety, respect and equality. We can spread love and prevent domestic violence. Along with the resources, take a look at the ways you can take action this October! http://bit.ly/2cGKxUG
