October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month

Domestic violence impacts women, men, and children of every age, background, and belief. Nearly 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 men in the United States have suffered severe physical violence by an intimate partner. Victims are deprived of their autonomy, liberty, and security, and face tremendous threats to their health and safety. During National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we commit to upholding the basic human right to be free from violence and abuse. Join us in October as we learn more about the many faces of domestic violence, the ways DV impacts individuals, families, and communities, how to support friends or loved ones who are being abused, and how to get help for yourself.

We are proud to work with DC Coalition Against Domestic Violence to encourage everyone to proactively engage in dialogue that promotes safety, respect and equality. We can spread love and prevent domestic violence. Along with the resources, take a look at the ways you can take action this October! http://bit.ly/2cGKxUG

Counter Stories: New Episode

Our MOST and WISE Club members have been hard at work on their Teen Talk Show, Counter Stories! In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month,  this episode, discusses teen dating violence, intimate-partner violence and domestic violence. We are so impressed by our student's creativity, and proud of their dedication to this project.
