| The My Strength Campaign | |
“My Strength Is Not for Hurting” was Men Can Stop Rape’s first, groundbreaking public education campaign launched in Washington, DC public high schools during February 2001. Targeting young men with provocative and inspiring messages, this consent-based campaign highlighted how they could be strong without overpowering others or resorting to violence. My Strength Is Not for Hurting spread from DC to billboards and movie theaters across California to public health clinics in South Africa and to hundreds of places in between, reaching millions of men across the country and world. The campaign’s pioneering approach of positively engaging men and having men speak to men has continued to guide MCSR’s creation of more recent bystander intervention campaigns. “My Strength Is Not for Hurting” materials are no longer available.
