Men Can Stop Rape's Mission
Men Can Stop Rape mobilizes male youth to prevent men's violence against women. We build young men's capacity to challenge harmful aspects of traditional masculinity, to value alternative visions of male strength, and to embrace their vital role as allies with women and girls in fostering healthy relationships and gender equity.

Instant Poll

A recent study commissioned by Liz Claiborne Inc. and the National Teen Dating Abuse Helpline reveals that 20% of 11-14 year olds claim that their friends are victims of dating violence. Have you ever observed this in young people that you know?
Yes, I see it pretty frequently
Yes, but rarely
Not at all
I don't pay attention
It's not a big deal. Kids hit each other anyway

PHOTOS & VIDEOS FROM THE 2008 MEN OF STRENGTH AWARDS

On Tuesday, April 29th, at the 9th ANNUAL MEN OF STRENGTH AWARDS in the National Press Club ballroom, four honorees, Odinga Johnson, D’Von Moore, William Harris, and Chris “Kazi” Rolle, stood at the microphone and represented a future where all men ask themselves, “What kind of man do I want to be?”

These award recipients had clear answers: “A man who stands up for what’s right, a man who respects himself and women, a man who gives back to the community.

Executive Director Steve Glaude shared his vision of Men Can Stop Rape’s role in making that future a reality. In the next five years MCSR will expand its programming into middle schools, formalize a campus affiliate program, and host a national conference on the primary prevention of men’s violence against women.

It was an inspiring night of strength, boldness, and vision.

For those of you who weren't able to attend, we have uploaded the videos shown at the event onto YouTube. Here you can see short clips about our Man of Strength youth honorees - D'Von Moore, Odinga Johnson, and William Harris.

OPRAH'S BEST FRIEND INTERVIEWS MCSR ED FOR V-DAY CELEBRATION

Men Can Stop Rape recently attended the star-studded "V-DAY TO THE TENTH" in New Orleans, a national celebration of ten years of V-Day. (You might remember that we honored V-Day founder Eve Ensler at our 10th anniversary celebration last year.) MCSR's Executive Director Stephen Glaude appeared on a panel of men focusing on engaging males in preventing violence, wowing everyone there including actress Jane Fonda, who approached him afterwards.

As a result, Stephen was invited to be on a number of radio shows while down in New Orleans, one of which is with Oprah's BFF Gayle King. A write-up of their conversation now appears on the Oprah & Friends website. Check it out!
