The Coast Guard Compass, the U.S. Coast Guard's blog, features a guest post from Pat McGann, Ph.D., MCSR's director of strategy and planning. Pat offers a frank assessment of the Coast Guard’s efforts to eradicate sexual assault and reminds readers that sexual assault awareness and prevention should not end in April during Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

This week Men Can Stop Rape met with members from the Egyptian National Council for Women, whose mandate includes proposing and implementing policy in support of the development and empowerment of women in Egypt.
On April 15, MCSR particicipated in THE LINE film screening and panel which featured Nancy Schwartzman, director of THE LINE; Michelle J. Anderson, Dean and Professor of Law at CUNY School of Law; Don McPherson, former NFL football player; current sports announcer and activist; and Meghan O’Connor, NYC Alliance Against Sexual Assault.

After months of planning and discussion, Men Can Stop Rape spent a week in Hawaii training and meeting with hundreds to support Hawaii’s statewide plan for the primary prevention of sexual violence. Supporting organizations included the Hawaii Department of Health, Prosecuting Attorney Offices in Maui County and Hilo, University of Hawaii Maui College, University of Hawaii at Hilo, and YWCA Hilo.
Continuing our goal of collaborating with organizations to institutionalize the primary prevention of men's violence against women within existing systems, MCSR will teach a course again this summer at the University of Maryland, College Park.
The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region profiled Men Can Stop Rape in their April newsletter as one of four grantees of the Starbucks Memorial Fund, dedicated to violence prevention, advocacy and victim assistance - you can read it here.
This week the Tennessee Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence and Verizon Wireless launched the "My Strength is Not for Hurting" educational campaign designed by Men Can Stop Rape. My Strength launched statewide in April and includes digital billboards and television and radio public service announcements. "This campaign will help us get the message out to 3.6 million Tennesseans that young men can prevent violence and break the cycle of abuse," said Kathy England Walsh, Executive Director of TCADSV.
