OUR MISSION
MEN CAN STOP RAPE (MCSR) is a Washington, DC-based, internationally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that mobilizes young men to find and use their strength for creating a culture free from violence, especially men’s violence against women.
We have reached over 2 million youth and youth-serving professionals with our comprehensive STRENGTH CAMPAIGN, which includes intensive, long-term primary prevention programs such as the widely acclaimed school-based Men of Strength (MOST) Club and our groundbreaking, multi-media public education campaign, Strength Mediaworks.
In contrast to traditional efforts that address men as “the problem,” MCSR mobilizes men as vital allies who can make informed, healthy choices, as well as foster safe, equitable relationships and communities.
MCSR is an outgrowth of D.C. Men Against Rape, a volunteer profeminist collective founded in 1987 by a handful of men seeking to raise their own and the community's consciousness about men's violence against women. In 1997, MCSR incorporated as a nonprofit.
